Established as a small analytical laboratory for the Engineering and Water Supply Department in 1933, the AWQC has developed into a large facility providing customers with an integrated range of services for sampling, analysis, advice and research associated with the chemistry, microbiology, biology and ecology of waters, wastewaters, sediments and sludges

Centre for Water Management and Reuse, University of South Australia
The Centre aims to advance the science and technology of sustainable water management through fundamental and applied research. Centre staff are available to partner in research projects, provide independent consultancy advice and training in a range of water related fields including:
• Desalination, Membrane and Nanotechnology
• Securing Water Supplies
• Treatment for fit for Purpose Reuse
• Water Recycling Systems Design and Operation
• Advanced Monitoring
The Centre also houses the Australian Irrigation and Hydraulics Testing Facility (AIHTF) that provides a NATA accredited product testing service to assist water industries gain national and international market entry of a range of water related products.

Water Research Australia
Water Research Australia Limited (WRA) is a national research broker established to succeed the CRC for Water Quality and Treatment (CRCWQT) when the CRC ended on 30 June 2008.
WRA facilitates and provides rigorous scientific evidence to support Australian water utilities and public health regulators to make sound decisions to address water quality issues, through collaborative research of national application on drinking water quality, recycled water and relevant areas of wastewater management. The main focus of the research program is on urban water issues related to public health and acceptability aspects of water supply, water recycling and aspects of wastewater management, but attention is also given to issues regarding regional and rural water supplies.
